by Bree Reeves

Unnamed

The summer rice paddy field

Having never seen the ocean

Ripples into dancing waves

Matching step for step

Her sister far away

Bree Reeves grew up in Iowa. Her work is shaped by travel, including time in Vietnam, which inspired this poem. This is her first published piece, and she carries with her the encouragement of her grandmother, who always saw the poet in her.
